El Grande Lures has released it's Fred Roumbanis signature series soft jerkbait, aptly named the Boom R Ang. The Boom R Ang is 6" in length, has a long, serrated forked tail, a belly hookslot, and a indentation along the back to rest the hook point. The profile is large for a 6" jerkbait as it is broad across the shoulders and has a deep belly to really move the water. We recommend rigging the Boom R Ang with a 5/0 or larger EWG hook. Recommended techniques include fishing the Boom R Ang weightless, Texas Rigged, Carolina Rigged, and as a trailer on bladed swim jigs. Staff have professed strong results on a shakey head and drop shot as well. Owner, Jay Schurz, related that the bait was readily taken by big Smallmouth bass on a recent test run on the St Regis River in upstate New York and was responsible for catching many smallies between 1-4lbs.
